Giulianova
20 minutes from the hotel
Following the destruction of first the Roman center (Castrum Novum Picenii) and subsequently the medieval one (Castel San Flaviano), the city was refounded in the second half of the 15th century by the Duke of Atri, Giulio Antonio I Acquaviva d'Aragona, who named it after himself and made it an example of an ideal Renaissance city. The city is home to one of the region's four ports, the only one in the province. The town is divided into two main agglomerations, Giulianova Paese or Giulianova Alta, and Giulianova Lido or Giulianova Spiaggia. The former includes the historic center and extends over a low-lying hill about a kilometer from the coastline, while the more modern and touristy part of the city is located along the coast.

It is the first marine protected area in Abruzzo and the central Adriatic. It is located between the municipalities of Silvi and Pineto, in the province of Teramo, and encompasses a coastal strip of approximately 7 km, from the mouth of the Calvano stream in Pineto to Piazza dei Pini in Silvi. The MPA's dune environment is characterized by the presence of Kentish plovers, which arrive in these areas in the spring to nest, departing again in the fall. The marine environment is populated by common clams, white bream, sea bass, and, above all, the rare gastropod mollusk.

Inside the Civitella fortress, the Museum of Weapons and Ancient Maps was inaugurated in August 1988.

The old Adriatic Railway line between Ortona and Vasto, close to the coast, has been replaced by a cycle path as part of the larger Adriatic Cycle Route: the Via Verde dei Trabocchi. The Ortona -Fossacesia has been chosen as the starting point for the 2023 Giro d'Italia.
